Believing that the cultural roots of Man relate to Nature, I take it as a source of knowledge and development.
The Slovak legend of the willow/vrba is the basis for this series produced during the period of time I came to know Slovakia's nature. This folklore tells of secrets that were entrusted to the interior of a tree, what is showned on these pieces is the secret's sound waves carved in it. The sound of the secret was like this recorded and exists as a hidden legacy of the story shared between mankind and the earth.
timeline
Vrypy was realized in the H2O Sculpture Symposium in Nimnica Spa Slovakia, the permanent exhibition of the pieces resulting from this symposium opened on October 2006. As a continuity of the carving process, three wood pieces were produce and would later be cast into bronze and originate Vrba. In January 2007, Vrba was specifically installed in two different ways, for the Zimný Prieskum/winter show at the AFAD, and for Human Nature exhibition, at the Church Zvestovania Panny Márie, in Bratislava Slovakia. In March 2007 the wooden Vrba was part of 12NOCI exhibition at the Martinicky Palace, in Prague Czech Republic, and in April 2007 of Babelfishing exhibition, at the FBAUP Museum, in Porto Portugal.
